Plymouth Marathon Turns The West Scarlet!

The Order of the Scarlet Cord in the West took a massive step forward on Tuesday 4th September at the Mount Edgcumbe Masonic Hall, Plymouth.

Grand Summus Most Distinguished Companion Andrew Sweeney and a full team of Grand Officers were present to consecrate Kernow Consistory No 83.

After a short break, the Grand Summus then consecrated Trafalgar Consistory No 85. Kernow will meet at Newquay, Cornwall and Trafalgar at Barnstaple, Devon.

The addition of these two new Consistories qualified the Inspectorate of Western Counties to become a Province. Hardly pausing for breath, Most Distinguished Companion Andrew then constituted the Province and installed Brian Pepperrell as Provincial Grand Summus.

The whole Scarlet Cord marathon was followed by a (mid-afternoon) lunch, when the Provincial Grand Summus was able to express his admiration for the massive workload undertaken by the Grand Summus and Grand Director of Ceremonies, Frank Spencer.

With several other Consistories in the pipeline, the West is certainly one of those areas where the Order is rapidly catching the Masonic imagination.
